I do not think you should become a father until you are ready for it. But it would be a joyous occasion.

In so far as that we were gifted with you? I did not think so when you were first born and you howled all night like a demon.

I've found this stuff they call SPAM and it fries up real nice to put on toast.

Right, there are lots of things that sound awful when you say what they are but it's actually good

I mean think about it, someone had to say hey, lets get that liquid out of a cows tit and drink it. Clearly the calf likes it. I mean think about how weird that must've been for the first time explaining that one to your friends.

I would rather not.

If you are in need of meat, we can go hunting.

... I dunno, maybe it's the pirate in me that don't mind mystery meat. It's edible and don't make me sick. And it tastes good fried on toast. Ain't like I haven't eaten worse.

You know I'd never say no to a chance to spend time with me grandson.

I am certain that you have, grandfather. And while I cannot undo the past, I can ensure that you have good food going forward. There is plenty here, and those who farm and grow do not mind sharing or trading.

I'll need to learn how you folks season your venison. We have our ways of salt curing the meat when I'd hunt them on islands, but there's something about the way you all cure things. Dunno if it's just better method, better skill, better seasoning or better meat. Course could be all of that really. How many hundreds of years later and those deer are probably eating better than the ones I find on islands all over the Caribbean.

Jerky is just as well too, or really any meat you can spare that'll keep.

I do not imagine rabbit or deer are easily found in such places. We often cut the meat into thin slices before laying it out upon a rock to dry in the sun. That way, it is the natural flavor of the meat that comes through, instead of the salt that was used to cure it.

There is good game out in the frontier. I am certain that, were you with me, we could find more than enough to feed your crew.

They're not plentiful, but when you found an island with them, there were generally enough to hunt a few and skin'em for profit. Weren't much meat on 'em but it was enough to bring back to the ship so the boys could butcher it to make rations out of it to keep us fed for a good while. Not sure how the boys did it tbh, but it was good enough for us at the time.

I'm sure we could. I ain't hurting for money but... it could be a good way to spend time with you. We hunt well together when I'm not being attacked by bears.
